MYPath Hike & SWCD Open House 6:00- 8:00 pm Meet: MYPath Riverfront Trail and new SWCD office, 788 Pottersville Road, Spencer Easy Hike, 1 mile, 45 min. Short walk and talk on the MYPath Riverfront Trail to learn about the ecological restoration project underway on 16 acres in the White River floodplain. After, join the Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District staff and board supervisors for an open house at the location of the new office next to the River front Trail. Drinks and light snacks provided! Plant checklists available

Wildflower hike in Wolf Cave Nature Preserve 10:00 am Meet: Wolf Cave Parking Lot Moderate Hike, 2+Miles, 2 hours Indiana Nature Preserves is celebrating their 50th anniversary ! Tom Swinford, Assistant Division Director of Nature Preserves, will lead you through the popular Wolf Cave Nature Preserve to catalog the plants seen blooming in this unique area. You are sure to learn something new! Afternoon Stroll
1:30 pm Meet: Nature Center Easy, wheelchair accessible, 1 mile, 1 hour Join a naturalist for a leisurely stroll along Trail 8 to see what flowers are blooming right off the path. Count the varieties of trilliums and witness their magnificent heights in the sinkholes. |

Afternoon Forestry Hike at the SWCD Demonstration forest 4:00 pm Meet to carpool: 3:30 pm, at the Nature Center Parking Lot Meet DNR District Forester, Ralph Unversaw, to learn the basics of tree identification. The demonstration forest was deeded to the SWCD in 1959 by Harley Hancock to continue his timber management work for educational purposes. It is a special place that is not often open to visitors, don’t miss out. CANYON INN - Sycamore Room ~ 6:40 pm HD Video Presentation by Marc Evans " Wildflowers of 2017 " over view of wildflowers seen during Wildflower Weekend . Evening Keynote Invasive Plant Species and You 7:00pm Canyon Inn Sycamore Room Coffee, tea, and cookies provided Enjoy an evening presentation with Ellen Jacquart to learn how you can make a difference in the fight against invasive plant species locally. Ellen serves as the current chair of MC-IRIS (Monroe County- Identify and Reduce Invasive Species), past chair of the Invasive Plant Advisory Committee for the Indiana Invasive Species Council and past president of the Midwest Invasive Plant Network. Her knowledge and passion on the topic is affective and motivating. |

Canyon Rim and Creek Bottoms 10:00 am Meet: Wolf Cave Parking Lot Moderate Hike, 2 miles, 2 hours Join Andrea Oeding, Director of the Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District, for a 2 hour hike to identify wildflowers on Trail 7’s many habitats. This will be the 10th year Andrea has led this Sunday morning hike.She looks forward to seeing the changes each year while laughing and learning new things with hike participants. Green’s Bluff Nature Preserve 2:00 pm Meet to carpool: 1:30 pm, at the Nature Center Parking Lot Mod./rugged, 1.5 miles, 2 Hrs Scenic sandstone cliffs, wooded slopes and a meandering creek make up this great preserve. Visit the hemlock forest as well as an old grist mill whose remnants can be found in a bend of Raccoon Creek. The wildflowers won’t disappoint either, the combination of sandstone and limestone produces a variety of exceptional plant life in rocky crevices |
